I used to use Spendee for the last 2 years, but not anymore. Moneko is honestly the best app I've tried so far. Direct comparison
| Comparison point | Moneko | Basic shared tracker |
|---|---|---|
| Shared and personal visibility | Supports personal and household views so couples can track shared expenses without collapsing everything into one feed. | May show a shared transaction list without a stronger budgeting structure around it. |
| Capture workflow | Supports chat-based logging, receipts, voice notes, and device-friendly expense capture paths. | Often relies on manual app entry or a simpler split-bill workflow only. |
| Budgeting layer | Uses pockets and planning tools to connect shared spending with a real monthly budget. | May track who paid without showing what is left in a shared category or budget plan. |
| Household planning | Helps couples manage recurring household costs, joint goals, and what-if planning. | Often focuses on reimbursement rather than broader budget planning. |
A strong couples expense tracker should do more than split bills. It should help partners understand what was spent, which costs are shared, what remains in the household budget, and how personal spending stays separate when needed.
Moneko is designed around that broader workflow, which is why it works as both an expense tracker for couples and a budgeting tool for shared money decisions.
Moneko supports personal and household finance views, which lets couples track shared expenses without losing context for individual purchases. That makes it easier to manage groceries, rent, travel, utilities, and other recurring categories together.
Because capture can happen through chat, receipts, voice notes, or device-friendly workflows, couples are less likely to leave transactions unlogged until the end of the week.
Bill splitting is only one part of shared money management. Couples also need a way to budget recurring categories, understand household cash flow, and plan upcoming decisions together.
Moneko adds those layers through pockets, summaries, and AI what-if planning, which makes it more useful than a simple reimbursement app for couples who want ongoing financial coordination.
This page is for couples who want an expense tracker that supports both shared and personal spending, households that need more structure than a note or spreadsheet, and partners comparing budgeting apps before choosing a joint workflow.
It is also relevant for users searching for a couples budgeting app, a joint expense tracker, or a household finance app with lower-friction logging.
